El mercado de los países de latinoamérica tiene una precaria reputación en lo que al respeto de los derechos de autor se refiere. Seguramente se debe a que costaba y aún cuesta hacer llegar las cosas nuevas a estas tierras, así que no son muy baratas. Entonces se hecha mano a una réplica o una copia más barata. Pasa con muebles, obras de arte, diseños en variado formato y también con los libros. Pero llegó internet y las empresas de courier, que han hecho las cosas un poco más accesibles y baratas, también hay más artistas y escritores que antes, y todavía no vemos un respeto masivo por el trabajo que hay detrás de una idea, que es el trabajo de alguien más. Tenemos que empezar a educarnos nosotros y a nuestros niños para avanzar en este tema, empujando la creatividad, valorando las obras de arte y enseñando todo lo que un libro puede regalar a nuestra familia, por ejemplo.
Para todos los que tengan una página, manejen redes sociales o contenidos en línea, hay una iniciativa que se llama Link with Love, a la cual adhiere What a Light!, que nos invita a respetar la propiedad intelectual y entender la forma como el arte, el diseño, la fotografía y las ideas son compartidas en línea, siempre haciendo el link al lugar donde lo viste. Our Latin-American market has a poor reputation on intellectual property respect. This probably started due to how difficult it was and still is to deliver new things in these lands, so they are not very cheap. So we are drawn into replicas or a cheaper copy of things. This happens with furniture, artwork, designs in multiple formats and also books.
