Esto de ser mamá pasa de repente, algunas lo esperan con ansias, otras lo reciben de sorpresa. Algunas se preparan mucho, otras lo hacen con el instinto, pero todas sin duda queremos hacerlo lo mejor que podamos. Y aunque a veces tratemos, no somos perfectas, nos equivocamos. También nos cansamos, suspiramos, o lloramos y sufrimos cuando a algún niño le pasa algo. Todo vale la pena cuando se ríen, o cuando uno los abraza y nos dicen que nos quieren mucho. Pero ese momento en que los vemos llegar con la bandeja del desayuno el domingo, sus regalos hechos con témpera atrás de la espalda, los mismos que escondieron ansiosos cuando llegaron del colegio y se supone que no vimos, es lo máximo. Es todo el regalo que yo necesito, por lo menos.
    This thing of being a mom happens suddenly, some of us await anxiously, for others comes as a surprise. Some prepare themselves a lot, others do it with instinct, but surely we all want to do the best we can. And though sometimes we try, we are not perfect, we make mistakes. We get tired, we sigh, or cry and suffer when something is wrong with our child. When they laugh, or when we get to hug them tight and they tell us they love us very much, it's all worth it. But that moment when we see them coming with the breakfast tray on Sunday, and their gifts made with paint behind the back, which they hid themselves when they arrived from school eagerly and we supposedly didn't see, it's just the best. It's all the gift I need, at least.






  Cuando uno es mamá (o papá) entiende muchas más cosas de la propia mamá y la quiere todavía más. Por eso pensé que hoy, en vez de mostrarles algún proyecto de regalo (pueden encontrar varios en la etiqueta diy),  los voy a invitar a pensar en todo lo que le tenemos que decir a nuestras mamás y que no les hemos dicho,  y démosle las gracias, como cuando éramos chicos, con una carta hecha a mano. Quizás algo más también, pero que nos vean llegar con la carta escondida en la espalda y con cara de risa aguantada.
   When you become a parent you understand so much more your own mom and get to love her even more. So I thought that today, instead of showing you some gift project (you can find a number of them on the label DIY), I'm inviting you to think about all those things we haven't told our moms and thank them for all, like when we were kids, with a handmade card. Perhaps with something else too, but let her see you arrive with the card hidden behind your back and with a laughing poker face.
