Probamos esta aplicación gratuita para iPad que se llama Maily. Ofrece la primera cuenta de correo dirigida a los niños, para que se familiaricen con el correo y manden mensajes a los que quieren. Funciona y entrega lo que promete, les cuento cómo funciona, los pros y contras?

   We tried this free app for iPad called Maily. It offers the first mail account for children, to familiarize them with mail and to send messages to those they care about. It works and delivers what it promises, I'll tell you how it works, the pros and cons.

   Sólo se puede habilitar cuenta para un niño, así que puede ser un problema para familias más numerosas. Nosotros pusimos los nombres de dos niños juntos, para que no hubieran peleas. No es que los niños reciban una cuenta de correo propia, sino que todo funciona a través de Maily, los papás se registran a través de un correo o de Facebook y desde Maily mandan el email al contacto que los padres han autorizado a los niños en su página y el contacto responde a Maily y ellos lo entregan. Así que no van a poder comunicarse con cualquiera. 

   The account can be enabled for only one child, so it can be a problem for larger families. We set up the names of two together, to avoid fights. It's not that kids receive an email account of their own, but everything works through Maily, parents are registered through email or Facebook and the email is sent from Maily to contacts parents have allowed children in their page and the contacts respond to Maily and they deliver. So they won't be able to communicate with unknown people.

   Hay que aprender un poco a usarlo, no es tan intuitivo, pero por supuesto que los niños se demoran menos que uno en entender. Es como una estación para pintar, con distintos tipos de lápices y pinceles, se pueden elegir fondos y hay algunas imágenes prediseñadas que se pueden pegar y ajustar en tamaño, pero no se puede escribir texto con un teclado. También se pueden agregar fotos desde la cámara o de las que hay guardadas. Es para niños entre pre-kinder y 3º, más grandes lo encuentran un poco aburrido. En resumen funciona bien y sería especialmente bueno para comunicarse con los abuelos y con los que están lejos. Para ellos va a ser lo máximo recibir los dibujos de los niños y sin duda les van a responder con el mismo cariño, que va a ser muy especial para los más chicos. Nada mal para ser gratis!    You have to learn how to use it a bit, it's not as intuitive as other apps, but of course that children take less than us at understanding it. It's like a painting station, with different types of pencils and brushes, you can choose backgrounds and there are some clip art that can be pasted and resized but you can't enter text with a keyboard. You can also add photos from the camera or those that are saved. It's for kids from pre-kindergarten to 3rd grade, bigger kids can find it a bit boring. In summary, it works well and would be especially good to communicate with grandparents and those far away. For them it will be great to receive drawings from the kids and no doubt they will respond with the same love, that will be very special for the little ones. Not bad for being free! Look for it at the App Store
