En esta casa somos súper buenos para comer apio, en ensaladas crocantes o en sofritos para la sopa o el arroz, nada más rico! Hace unos días guardé el corazón, lo más gustoso y lleno de vitaminas, para hacer un experimento que realmente resulta: cultivar nuestro propio apio! Podemos hacerlo dentro de la cocina, en un tarro grande, o llevarlo al jardín y plantarlo. En el primer caso siempre vamos a tener hojas y tallos para cocinar, si dejamos la plantita en un lugar soleado y no muy caluroso de la casa. Si lo plantamos en el jardín, con abundante agua, en dos meses tendremos la ensalada hecha totalmente por nosotros. Hace tiempo que lo venía escuchando, vi varios artículos y uno de los que más me gustó es el de 17Apart, para que lo miren.

   Primero, tenemos que poner la base en agua por varios días, dejando las hojas fuera de ella. Cuando esas hojas pasen de amarillo a verde oscuro, después de cerca de 6 días, está listo para irse a la tierra. Si usan un tarro, tiene que hacerle unos hoyitos de drenaje en el fondo. Tienen que regarlo bastante y siempre asegurarse que la tierra esté húmeda al principio, porque el crecimiento y las raíces dependen de que se pudra la base. Cuando ya lo vean crecer y crear nuevas ramas pueden bajar el riego.

   ¿Sabían que también podemos hacer lo mismo con los pelos de una piña? Ésa sí es una planta de interior, crece enorme, dependiendo del tamaño del macetero, pero pueden llegar a conseguir piñas!! El proceso es el mismo, sólo que debemos sacarle los restos de fruta a la parte de arriba y esperar a que le salgan pequeñas raíces a la base dentro del agua antes de plantar.
