Estaba esperando ansiosa que florecieran las lavandas, porque las necesitaba para los regalos de este año. Se atrasaron un par de semanas, pero abrieron sus primeras flores justo a tiempo!! Para hacer nuestros ramitos y que tengan la mejor forma y olor las ramas tienen que estar con las flores abiertas, así tienen la rigidez necesaria. Estos ramitos franceses de la Provence dejan los closets, o lo que quieran, con un olor maravillosos por un año.

   I was so looking forward for lavenders to blossom, I needed them to make some gifts this year. They were a couple of weeks late, but they showed their flowers just in time!! To make sure our bouquets have best shape and smell, stems should have open flowers, so they have enough stiffness. This french bouquets from Provence make your closest, or what ever you like, with just wonderful smell for a whole year.

1.- Cortamos tantas flores de lavanda como necesitemos, tratando de que el tallo sea el doble de grande que el espacio que ocupan las flores. Después les sacamos las hojas con cuidado. / We cut as much as we need, trying to make the stick twice as big as the flower section of the stem, then we carefully take the leaves away.

Hay gente que hace otras cosas por mientras... / Some people do some other stuff while we work....

2.- Juntamos las flores a una misma altura y con una cinta de unos 2m/6,5ft de largo, le hacemos un nudo con una punta en la base de las flores. / We gather the flowers at the same level and with a 2mt/6,5ft ribbon make a knot with one end at the flower's base.

3.- Damos vuelta el ramo y vamos bajando los tallos de a uno, tapando las flores, suavemente, para que no se quiebren. / We turn the bouquet upside down and fold the stems over the flowers one by one, carefully trying not to brake them.

4.- Cuando terminamos, sacamos la cinta hacia afuera por donde terminan las flores, le damos una vuelta bien apretada y empezamos a enrollar hacia arriba. / When we are done, we take the ribbon out at the bottom end of the flowers, roll it tight and keep rolling it to the top.

5.- Cuando llegamos arriba, le damos un par de vueltas apretadas y enrollamos otra vez hacia abajo hasta donde empezamos. La idea es dejar las flores adentro para que no se salgan los botones cuando se sequen. / When we get to the top, we roll it tight again twice and start rolling down until we get where we started. The idea is to get all flowers in this package so they don't fall out when they get dried.

6.- Cuando llegamos de nuevo abajo, hacemos un nudo y lo aseguramos con cinta adhesiva. / When we get to the bottom again, we make a knot and stick the end with some tape.

7.- Sobre la cinta adhesiva hacemos una rosa bonita con un pedazo de unos 40cms/16inch de cinta, a la que le quemamos las puntas con un fósforo para que no se deshile. / Over the tape we make a nice bow with about 40cm/16inch ribbon, with the ends sealed by a match, to avoid fraying.

8.- Después juntamos los tallos y les hacemos un nudo muy apretado en la base a la altura que queramos con un hilo o cáñamo y los cortamos parejos por debajo de él. Listo el regalo más lindo y perfumado!! / Then we tie the stems together very tight with any kind of thread and cut the excess under the knot. The most nice smelling and beautiful gift is ready!!
