Muchas veces me pregunto cuál será el futuro de la fotografía como arte y como medio para conservar nuestros recuerdos. Antes todos opinaban que la fotografía digital nunca iba a superar a la análoga, pero hoy las cámaras digitales -que han reducido su tamaño y precio, mejorado sus lentes y la resolución y color de sus imágenes- han desplazado a las análogas a la repisa de colección. Cuando ya la perfección de la imagen está al alcance de muchísimas personas es natural que se dé un paso más allá. 

   I often wonder what the future holds for photography as an art and as a way to preserve our memories. Before, everyone thought that digital photography would never overtake analogue, but today digital cameras -which have decreased in size and price, improved their lenses and resolution and color of their images- have displaced analogue to collection shelf. When the perfection of images is available to so many people, it is natural to take a step further.

   Y ese paso puede tener dos direcciones: el movimiento o la dimensión. Ya hemos visto acá cómo hay aplicaciones y técnicas para dar movimiento a las fotos con un soplo de vida, fabricando breves animaciones gif. Hoy tenemos para presentarles pa primera aplicación que es capaz de generar imágenes con efecto 3D, que cambia al mover el teléfono. Se llama Seene.

   And that step can have two directions: movement or dimension. We have seen here how there are apps and techniques to motion pictures with a breath of life, making short gif animations. Today we have to introduce the first app that is capable of generating images with 3D effect, that change as you move the phone. It's called Seene.

   La idea es que el software identifica los objetos y sus puntos de interés, pide que muevas el teléfono en las cuatro direcciones básicas, luego combina las imágenes haciendo como capas que se mueven en distintos niveles usando el giroscopio del teléfono. Así queda una imagen viva y casi tangible de lo que elegimos, que podemos compartir con nuestros amigos inscritos en esta red, además de Facebook y Twitter. Para mí, eso es un pedacito de futuro.

   The idea is that the software identifies objects and their points of interest, then asks you to move the phone in the four basic directions, then combines the images making them as layers moving at different levels using the phone's gyroscope. The outcome is a vivid and almost tangible image of what we choose, we can share them with our friends registered on this network, as well as Facebook and Twitter. To me, that is a slight piece of future.

   Está disponible gratis para IOS y próximamente para Android. Fue lanzado la semana pasada y ha tenido los mismos niveles de éxito de Instagram. ¿Se animan?
